Kudus People's Belief in Candik Olo Surup Magrib in the Perspective of Islamic Aqidah

Abstract


Candik olo surup magrib is the people's belief in the existence of a ban on leaving the house at dawn before magrib, which is believed by the sacred community in the village of Kaliwungu. If you go out at dusk, you're afraid of being disturbed by a magical creature, a child disappearing, a fall or an accident. This belief has existed since ancient times. Ancient parents claimed that there was a mysterious creature called Wewe Gombel, which was used as a test subject to frighten children not to play at dusk. The purpose of this research is to find out the views of the sacred people of Kaliwungu village on the beliefs of the Magrib Surup that have been passed down. The type of research used is field research using qualitative methods. The data collection techniques used are observational methods by observing behaviours that reflect citizens' trust in candik olo, interviews with two public figures and 7 local citizens of Kaliwungu village, and documentation of atmospheric conditions during the performance of candik olo. The data obtained from the informant was analysed using Jonathan Leicester's theory of belief and Ibnu Taimiyah's epistemology. The findings of this study are: 1) the people of Kaliwungu village believe that this belief contains moral values that can protect their children from the disturbance of fine creatures, 2) the belief of candik olo surup magrib is not a belief that deviates from the teachings of Islam because it has relevance with the Quran and Hadith. 

 

Kepercayaan Masyarakat Kudus terhadap Candik Olo Surup Magrib dalam Perspektif Aqidah Islam. Candik olo surup magrib merupakan kepercayaan masyarakat tentang adanya larangan keluar rumah pada waktu senja menjelang Magrib yang diyakini oleh masyarakat Kudus tepatnya di Desa Kaliwungu. Apabila keluar pada waktu senja dikhawatirkan menerima gangguan dari makhluk gaib, berupa hilangnya anak, terjatuh ataupun kecelakaan. Kepercayaan ini telah ada sejak leluhur yang berlangsung secara turun-temurun. Orang tua zaman dahulu menyatakan bahwa ada sosok mahluk gaib yang bernama 'Wewe Gombel' yang dijadikan sebagai subjek untuk menakut-nakuti anak-anak agar tidak bermain di waktu senja. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pandangan masyarakat Kudus tepatnya di Desa Kaliwungu terhadap kepercayaan candik olo Surup Magrib yang telah berlangsung secara turun temurun. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah lapangan (field research) dengan metode kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa metode observasi dengan mengamati perilaku yang mencerminkan kepercayaan warga terhadap candik olo, wawancara dengan 2 tokoh masyarakat dan 7 warga lokal desa Kaliwungu, serta dokumentasi kondisi suasana ketika pelaksanaan candik olo. Data yang diperoleh dari Informan dianalisis dengan teori kepercayaan Jonathan Leicester dan Epistemologi Ibnu Taimiyah. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah 1) masyarakat Desa Kaliwungu memandang kepercayaan ini terkandung nilai moral yang dapat melindungi anaknya dari gangguan makhluk halus, 2) kepercayaan candik olo surup magrib bukanlah kepercayaan yang menyimpang dari ajaran Islam sebab memiliki relevansi dengan al-Quran dan Hadis.
