MODERASI BERAGAMA DALAM TRADISI PESANTREN (STUDI KASUS PONDOK PESANTREN NURIS JEMBER)

Abstract


Multicultural Indonesia has a lot of diversity, such as culture, ethnicity and religion. This multicultural condition can pose a threat to the unity of Indonesia, but on the contrary if it is managed properly it will be a great strength for Indonesia. From this, the Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School considers it necessary to implement education that is insightful in diversity, moderation, washatiyyah and gender, so that it can form a generation that is tolerant and characterized by diversity through the formation and habituation of tolerant and inclusive religious attitudes.

                    The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) Islamic moderation-based learning model for the practice of learning and teaching at Pondok Pesantren Nuris Jember, 2) the important role of a kyai and other figures as well as the resources in this pesantren in influencing pesantren policy regarding values. tolerant moderation of Islam in the pesantren tradition, 3) creating students who have the attitude and behavior of being tolerant of al-Wasathiyyah Islamiyyah or moderate Islam through the Nuris Jember Islamic Boarding School.

                This research was conducted at the Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School on the outskirts of the city of Jember, precisely in the Antirogo sub-district, Sumbersari Jember district, East Java, using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of interviews, observations, and documentation. The methods and approaches used are verbatim analysis or triangulation technique              The results of this study are: 1) the learning model at the Nuris Jember Islamic boarding school as a contemporary and moderate Islamic learning model and in harmony with the concept of gender equality while maintaining the rules or limits in Islamic teachings. 2) religious moderation is clearly seen from the tradition of the Nuris Jember Islamic boarding school with various problems faced by the cottage and can be resolved in a peaceful and moderate way and upholds the value of tolerance for determining the application of learning policies and prioritizing aspects of gender equality making this Nuris cottage increasingly known for its uniqueness. 3) The students at the Nuris Islamic boarding school are famous for their high tolerance attitude, this is in accordance with the observations of researchers who directly witnessed the attitude and sense of tolerance applied by the students at Nuris.
